On December 4th 2005, Lucas Park Grille hosted a block party like no other. It was The Washington Avenue Chili Festival, and pre-game rally for the Rams. The Rams didn't start until 3:05, so many fans stopped by before the game to celebrate our great city and to rally for the Rams who battled the Redskins. Despite the cold weather, with a high of 29 degrees, many people showed up to this pre-game party. Many of the fans tried to stay inside either Lucas Park Grille or Flannery's to keep warm. But many did venture out into the cold for a bowl of chili. Some of the activities included the Hazelwood Central Marching Band, Football Toss for Charity, the Jager Girls, Redbull Specials, Antique Cars, Chili Contest, Live DJ, and a lot of fun. Chili, burgers, and chili dogs were available on the avenue. Brunch was served at Lucas Park Grille and Flannery's offered traditional pub fare. The Antique Warehouse proudly displayed their 1941 Cadillac and Grants Farm Tram. Also on display from the Saint Louis 2004 Exposition was their Ahrens Fox MX4 Fire Engine and Budweiser II Bevo Boat. Many people enjoyed a hot cup of chili while looking at these beautiful automobiles. There were also additional Cadillac's from the Classic Car Club, including: Don Hoelscher's, 1938 Cadillac 75-23 Sedan, Marc Ohm's, 1940 Cadillac 75 Convertible Coupe, and Joel Haffner's, 1961 Lincoln Continental Four Door Sedan Convertible.
