24th AnnualGreat Fire Engine Rally
On Sunday September 9th 2007, Greg Rhomberg joined hundreds of fellow fire truck enthusiast for the 24th Annual Great Fire Engine Rally. As in years past, Greg brought along a fire truck to share with the crowds, this year he brought the newly restored General Monarch Fire Engine. This event, which is held each year in downtown St. Louis, starts with a parade down market street. Nearly 100 fire trucks participated in this years event, ranging from the newest, high tech engine, to the vintage trucks produced in the early 1900's. After the parade, all of the fire trucks that participated, parked, which became a static display for all to enjoy. A number of other events were also part of the rally. An entire kids town with educational safety demonstrations, as well as water play area. A fire fighters competition, outdoor flea market, food, and live music. Even an A.R.C.H. Air medical helicopter joined in on the festivities. At the end of the day the General Monarch was awarded with the "Most Historically Significant" trophy.
