General MonarchBack in St. Louis The General Monarch is now finally back in St. Louis. In August of 2004 the General Monarch was sent to Pennsylvania for a total restoration. Having found the fire truck in 2002, abandoned on a farm in Illinois, Greg Rhomberg and his recovery team retrieved the truck despite being in very poor condition (Click here to see images of the truck prior to restoration). Not sure if the truck was even worth restoring, Greg discovered that this truck was one of the original fire engines from the Kirkwood Fire Department. After this discovery, Greg decided to pursue a restoration. It's been three long years, but the truck has been completed and is now back in St. Louis, and in better than new condition. This restoration was a complete overhaul, every nut and bolt down to the frame was removed. The truck even has a new Hercules engine. The amount of chrome on this truck is unbelievable, looking like a million bucks as it shimmers in the sunlight. The entire restoration was captured step by step, as the truck was stripped down and reassembled.
