Everyone knows the popular Christmas Song, Jingle Bells.  You know, "Dashing through the snow, in a one horse open sleigh."  Well, the actual song title is copyrighted under the name "One Horse Open Sleigh," and this months featured item is exactly that, a one horse open sleigh. 

     This sleigh was manufactured by the Excelsior Carriage Company, out of Watertown, New York.  The sleigh can comfortably fit two (very cold) adult passengers, and of course by the name, one horse is needed to pull the unit.  The sleigh is 74" long, from front to back, 48" tall, and 40" wide.  So it is relatively small compared to a modern day vehicle.  This sleigh is similar in design to a carriage (with wheels) of its day, however the undercarriage is designed with two skies for gliding along the snow.
