description:  This 45 and a half inch tall ticket grinder has decorative cast handles which are painted black.  The 14 inch grinder wheel is also cast and painted black.  The lower cabinet has a lockable compartment where the grinded tickets go after being grinded.

information:  This ticket taker/grinder was most likely installed in a theater.  After taking the ticket from the patron, the usher would drop it in the slot at the top.  When the top compartment had 10 (or less) tickets (which were visible through the front glass piece) the usher would rotate the handle, grinding the tickets up, to void the ticket.
